A number of months ago I was discussing the idea of creating a curated newsletter for my business development team. The intent that I had in mind was to have the latest information about our current clients, potential clients and the industry as a whole. Although my team members all agreed that such a thing would be of value no one volunteered to give it a try.
After letting the idea stew for a number of weeks I finally decided to give it a try myself. I took inspiration for the first newsletter from Tim Ferriss and his weekly 5 Bullet Friday email that I greatly enjoy. Tim focuses his newsletter on what he is enjoying, pondering, reading and even purchasing.
For my newsletter, I wanted to get some industry information to the team and also provide some occasional professional and personal development ideas.
The first version of the newsletter.

Team,
Some thoughts to share with you. Enjoy your weekend!
1. Technology in our industry.
Who knew 7-Eleven was on the cutting edge?
2. What’s going on with our competitors and partners?
XPO always has a lot going on with Brad Jacobs at the helm. This article isn’t specific to home delivery, but it is always good to know what they have going on that may enable them in other areas. http://www.dcvelocity.com/articles/20160719-xpo-on-track-300-million/
3. Article that I loved – Cowboys vs Farmers
Short article about personas. Which one are you?
4. Reminder to Enjoy your summer.
Considering we are in the middle of Vacation season. A good reminder on how to make the most of that vacation….
5. Quote I’m pondering, once again —
“If you don’t make mistakes, you’re not working on hard enough problems. And that’s a big mistake.” – Frank Wilczek, 2004 Nobel Prize winner
I will be posting the old newsletters into the blog. It should be fun to see the evolution.
